Still the frontrunners in the tablet computing industry, Samsung Electronics have come a long way ever since the introduction of its first tablet in 2010. Their success in creating the galaxy lineup of smartphones has now resulted in the addition of another tablet to the segment, the new Samsung Galaxy Book.
First announced at the 2017 Mobile World Congress, the new tablet from Samsung comes in two variants, the 10 and 12-inch models. Besides the usual Android interface seen in its latest tablet like the Tab S3, Galaxy Book runs on Windows 10 making it a worthy contender to Microsoft’s Surface tablets.
Samsung has released the Galaxy Book with the intention of serving the needs of users primarily focused on productivity applications. The following are some of the noteworthy features and specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Book.
The Galaxy Book features a 7.4 mm thick body profile that makes it very sleek and compact for carrying. The design is surprisingly thin for the larger dimensions of the tablet in both the 10 and 12-inch models.
The detachable keyboard cover and S-Pen stylus are noteworthy additions to the Galaxy Book, which make it different from the Surface tablets. Together, this excellent design feature has made the Galaxy book one of the best-looking Windows 10 tablets in the lineup.
The 12-inch model has more high-end features than the 10-inch one. The super AMOLED screen offers exceptional clarity and sharpness with a display resolution of 2160×1440 pixels. The 10-inch model has a full high definition display of 1920×1080 pixels. It also offers sharpness and good clarity owing to the same AMOLED display technology embedded in it.
The Galaxy Book uses Intel’s latest Kaby Lake Processors known for their low-voltage functionality. The 12-inch model features a 3.1 GHz dual-core seventh generation Intel Core i5 processor. The RAM is available in both 4 GB and 8 GB capacities.
On the other hand, a 2.6 GHz dual-core Intel Core m3 processor powers the 10-inch model and it comes with a RAM capacity of 4 GB.
The Galaxy Book comes preloaded with the Samsung Flow software, which allows the user in synchronizing text messages across other Samsung Galaxy devices like smartphones. This included feature is helpful for users owning multiple Samsung Galaxy devices.
